Volunteer Mentors

We are looking for volunteer mentors for ShapeUp programs.  Mentoring high school students in our ShapeUp program is fun, fulfilling, a great fieldwork opportunity for college students, and an excellent service and mentoring opportunity for volunteers.  In addition, being a mentor could lead to a spring internship or salary position.  CLICK HERE to fill out a Mentor application.

•Be a mentor in an activity driven interactive nutrition, health, and fitness program
•Help make a positive difference in students’ health while improving your own health
•Support teens as they practice healthy habits and then mentor younger children
•Have fun and make a difference while working with college students and professionals
•Training and Orientation - 1.5 hours from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM 
•ShapeUp Mentoring Workshops - 1.5 hours per week / 8 weeks / 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Fundraising Committee Volunteers

We are looking for 6-10 creative, high-energy, motivated individuals to develop and implement a new annual fundraising activity and assist with various established events and projects. Ideal applicants are passionate about public health, nutrition, fighting childhood obesity, and helping to grow a non-profit organization.

Hours are flexible - we will work with your schedule.

Responsibilities

•Attend initial meeting (date TBD) to brainstorm and develop a plan for a new annual fundraiser for SOSMentor
•Attend regularly scheduled meetings to divide responsibilities and track progress
•Assist with providing administrative support for all events (including Save the Date and invitation mailing, sponsor solicitation, research, RSVP collection, event planning support, and staffing the events)
•Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

•High school diploma, some college coursework
•Prior administrative/non-profit/fundraising/event planning experience a plus
•Willingness to learn, positive attitude, and team-player mentality
•Excellent communications and organizational skills
•Great work ethic
•Self-motivated, detail-oriented
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office
